New Families

(to our practice)

We accept new families to our practice, whether new to the area or simply seeking a practice that strives to provide continuity of care.

Our patients see their primary care physician (PCP) at each well child check and for most acute visits.  Physicals are scheduled every few months the first 18 months of age, then yearly starting at 2 years old.  We monitor growth and physical development at all well child checks, with gross motor, fine motor, social and language skills monitored closely the first few years.  A greater emphasis is placed on learning and behavior issues during the school age years and physical growth continues to be closely monitored so that specific recommendations can be made regarding your child's diet and activity.

Starting at age 12, we meet with our patients privately and review a confidential adolescent questionnaire.  The questionnaire reflects the challenging health issues that adolescents face in today's world and targets the leading risk factors that affect their health and well being at this age.  It can be comforting to both parents and children to know that this time is available to address a number of issues that have a direct impact on your children's physical and emotional health.

We perform sports participation physicals throughout the year, and precollege physicals for those patients pursuing post-secondary education.  We continue to see our patients through their college years to help ensure good health habits and to begin the transition to an adult style regimen of care. Then, at about age 21, we say a bittersweet goodbye until the next generation returns to our office.
