Q: Are you accepting patients?

A: Yes, our pediatricians are accepting newborn patients born at all hospitals. If you are new to town or just moving across town and are looking for a doctor, we accept transfers of older children up to age 16 years old. Call our office at (585)473-7028 to request a record transfer and schedule your first appointment.

Q: Can I meet my pediatrician before the first appointment?

A: Yes, we are always eager to meet new families and answer questions you may have about our practice. We set aside a 30 minute visit to meet your doctor at no charge to you. We find these are best scheduled at the end of the morning or afternoon session, so you have ample time without feeling rushed.

Q: Why do I need a pediatrician?

A: Pediatricians are uniquely qualified to be your family's trusted medical source. Our training is focused solely on children, from the premature newborn to the emerging young adult. Our experience comes from training in the intensive care units, emergency rooms, and subspecialty departments of the children's hospital in addition to office-based pediatrics. Our pediatricians have passed comprehensive exams after training and at specified intervals to maintain Board Certification in Pediatrics. This in-depth exposure enables us to identify life-threatening or rare conditions early as well as guide you and your child through each developmental stage of childhood toward a healthy adulthood.

Q: Do you take my insurance?

A: We accept most Blue Cross Blue Shield , Excellus, MVP, Cigna, United Health Care as well as Your Care plans. If you have a medicaid HMO option or Child Health Plus plan, please call to be sure as these products are ever changing .

Q: How often should my child see the pediatrician?

A: Your child should not only see the pediatrician for an illness. It is also important to schedule well-child-care exams regularly, beginning in infancy. Also called routine physicals or checkups, these comprehensive examinations provide the best opportunity for the doctor to observe the progress of your child's physical and mental growth and development; to counsel and teach parents; to detect problems through screening tests; to provide immunizations, and to get to know one another. Well-care visits are strongly recommended as part of preventive pediatric care and are covered by most insurance plans at little or no cost to you.

Q: What is the best way to schedule an appointment?

A: Most commonly ,patients call our main number (585)473-7028 during office hours to schedule a convenient appointment time. If you need a specific day or time slot, this is the best way. Sometimes, you have a hectic day and don't get to it before we close for the day. At those times, we offer access to on line appointment scheduling for well visits through our Patient Portal. If you don't see the time slot you would prefer, you can send a message directly to the office to request an appointment. It appears to us just like a phone message and is answered promptly during business hours. We may have to call to ask for more details so we can allot the proper time needed for taht issue, so leave a # and best time to call back jsut in case.
